Privacy Policy

Overview

Saporify is a recipe-saving app built with your privacy in mind. We believe your recipes and your data belong to you — and only you.

What stays on your phone

Your cookbook lives on your device. Recipes, photos, menus, your notes, ratings and everything on My Table are stored locally. There are no user accounts, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.

When something leaves your phone

Some features need the internet. When you use them, only what that feature needs is sent, and only at the moment you use it:

Importing a recipe. When you paste or share a link, the app fetches that page directly from the recipe website or social platform. For TikTok videos, the link is passed to a third-party service (tikwm.com) that returns the video.

AI features. Cleaning up an imported recipe, translating it, suggesting variations, Dinner Talk, menu descriptions and generating recipes send the recipe's text to our server, which passes it to our AI provider, Anthropic. Web recipe search sends your search words through the same server to Brave Search. Our server does not keep what you send. The only things it stores are shared, anonymous results per dish — for example, the Dinner Talk remarks for "carbonara" — which contain nothing about you.

Photos, only with your permission. Saporify asks before the first photo is ever sent, separately for each purpose, and remembers a "no" permanently:

• Naming a dish you photographed, and checking that a recipe's cover photo matches it.
• Reading a photographed recipe that on-device text recognition could not read well, such as handwriting.

A photo sent for these purposes is reduced in size, and its location and all other embedded details are removed on your phone before it is sent. Our server passes it to Anthropic and does not keep it. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic does not use this data to train its models and deletes it after a short retention period; see Anthropic's Privacy Center. If you decline, the feature works without the photo: a scan uses on-device text recognition, and a dish is saved for you to name yourself. When you add a photo to "Generate a recipe", that photo is sent the same way, because sending it is what you asked for.

Restaurant dishes. When you save a dish you ate out, the photo's location is read on your phone and used to suggest the restaurant: the coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Overpass) to find the city and nearby restaurants. Looking up a restaurant's menu sends its name and city to DuckDuckGo and then fetches the restaurant's own website. The coordinates are never sent to our server or to the AI.

Backups. If you turn on backup, your cookbook is copied to your own iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) account. We cannot see it.

Our server runs on Cloudflare, which, like any network provider, processes the IP address of each request in order to deliver it.

Third-Party Services

The services above receive data only to perform the feature you used: Anthropic (AI), Cloudflare (our server), Brave Search (web recipe search), OpenStreetMap (places), DuckDuckGo (restaurant menus), tikwm.com (TikTok videos), and Apple or Google for backups you turn on. The app uses no analytics, advertising or tracking services. This website (saporify.app) uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless tool that measures aggregate page views only and does not track individual visitors.

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all of your recipes at any time using the built-in export feature. To delete your data, simply delete individual recipes within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all data from your device.

Children's Privacy

Saporify has no accounts and collects no profiles about anyone, including children under the age of 13. The features above process only what is sent at the moment they are used.
